Michelle Bourne - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Hi! I’m Michelle. I am the very proud owner of On Point Performance. I am driven to empower clients in improving self-esteem and boosting self-confidence and love the challenge of bringing out the best version of themselves. Sport Specific Strength & Conditioning is my speciality & what drives me every day!

As a child at the age of 5, I found my first love, Ballet. Throughout my 20 years of ballet and dancing, I was fortunate to be under the guidance of Miss Tessa Maunder O.A.M. I quickly developed an acute sense of body awareness, interest in human movement and an enjoyment of teaching that I have since held. Facing the struggles of ongoing injuries and rehabilitation I was forced to retire from professional dance and look towards the future.

I quickly enrolled in a degree of Exercise & Sport Science and graduated in 2015. Whilst completing my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sport Science (BExSc), I completed my Certificate III & IV in Fitness, ASCA Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coaching Certificate as well as many other courses including; advanced sports taping. During this time, I was fortunate enough to work with the Australian Ballet School Strength and Conditioning team, which led me to find my second love Strength & Conditioning.

Wanting to further develop my knowledge and skills in the field, I enrolled in a Master’s degree of Exercise & Sport Science (Strength & Conditioning) via correspondence through Edith Cowan University (Perth). During the final year of my degree, I completed my final practicum in Perth with world renown Strength & Conditioning coaches and completed my ASCA Level 2 Strength & Conditioning Certificate. Finally, completing my Master’s degree of Exercise & Sport Science (Strength & Conditioning) in 2018 provided me with a real sense of personal accomplishment.

When I am not at OPP, you will usually find me cooking and entertaining for my family. I am mum to a gorgeous & spoilt Staffy named Taylor. I am a complete neat & clean freak and am obsessed with shoes! I look forward to seeing you at OPP!

Dean Shedden - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Dean completed his Bachelor of Physical Education at Newcastle University in 1992. Throughout his degree, he gained employment at the infamous Howzat Gym in Cooks Hill and it was during this time he began to consider a career in Health & Fitness. Upon graduation, Dean took a position at Granville Boys High School as a PE teacher and continued in that role for 2 years. During this time, Dean also worked at various health clubs from Petersham to North Sydney. Dean’s love for the Fitness industry was far too strong however, and he resigned from the Department of Education in 1995 and bought a oneway ticket to the United Kingdom.

Dean worked as a Gym Manager at Holmes Place Gym in Chelsea, London for 3 years (directly across the road from Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant Aubergine). After countless brushes with fame, the most memorable of which was Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, Dean returned home to Australia in 1998 and opened his own Personal Training Studio in the Junction.

For the past 21 years, Dean has been personal training small groups and loving every single minute of it! Dean’s extensive experience and knowledge within the Health & Fitness Industry is unparalleled. If you’re looking for results, Dean is your man. In his spare time and most importantly, on his Birthday, Dean will be found drinking piccolos, talking watches, cracking Dad jokes, riding his new gravel bike and uploading it to strava. Dean is surrounded by four, gorgeous children and the most patient of wives, Dani.
